
Coach Chadd Olson was selected from an impressive array of qualified coaches to lead the Puget Sound Tomahawks in their first year as a Junior A Tier III organization. His 20 year history of playing as a goalie up to and including Juniors, and subsequently coaching at that level, made him the perfect candidate. At 25 years old, he brings three seasons of experience in coaching the Spokane Flyers and leading them to the playoffs in two of his three years there. Additionally, his intensity, desire for excellence and unsurpassed expectation to improve and move on players to higher levels falls directly in accordance with NOR-PAC’s charter statement.
Chadd’s unprecedented on-ice practices include hundreds of different drills which challenge the player’s skills, attitude and the ability to think under stress, thereby creating the total hockey player. With over 15 rookies this year, he has created a team that has seen numerous successes in all aspects including: skill development, teamwork, game psychology, physical fitness and character development. He has developed a central core of players that will certainly lead the team to the playoffs in the 2008-2009 season.
Coach Olson brings to the Tomahawks a network of contacts that include colleges, semi-pro teams and scouts from international hockey organizations. He is constantly communicating with these people to move on or bring in players from younger levels. His commitment to improve his players for the next level is as strong as or stronger than the player’s dedication is to himself.
