NORPAC Officially Granted Tier-III A Status
NORPAC moved forward into the 2007-2008 hockey season with a new designation and a renewed league commitment to development and improvement of players and league.

During the past two years NORPAC has worked to not only develop the individual player but to improve the entire make up of all players on all teams. The depth of NORPAC was seen over the past two years at the Junior jamboree with the selected players winning the jamboree two years ago and running a tight second last year. With the designation of NORPAC as a Junior A, Tier III program we are excited at the opportunity to keep more of our home grown players south of the 49th parallel with the anticipated result being an increased level of play in not only NORPAC but the Western States Hockey League (WSHL), the Central States Hockey League (CSHL), the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL), the Minnesota Junior Hockey League (MNJHL) and the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL).

NORPAC (Tier-III A) is highly motivated and committed to the development of players so that they may move up to the North American Hockey League (Tier-II A), the United States Hockey League (Tier-I A) or into the many Division III or Division I hockey programs.

NORPAC as a Tier III program uses a tuition to play and a billeting fee system to support the players and teams during the season. Each and every player pays the tuition to the team and a monthly billeting fee to their billeting family. For 2008-2009 NORPAC has set the minimum tuition to be paid by every player at $5,000.00 with the maximum set at the USA Hockey cap of $6,500.00. Although no NORPAC team has set their tuition at the maximum the tuition will vary by location due to that location’s local conditions. At this time there is no team sponsorship of a player in NORPAC; in other words every player can expect to pay the minimum of $5,000 tuition.

A Tier II program does not charge tuition but does have a billeting fee that is required. The Tier I program does not have either tuition or billeting fee system.

All NORPAC teams are heavily into recruiting at this time, and all coaches and general managers are looking to improve quality and depth of play across all aspects of the game. Keep checking www.thenphl.com for more information on the upcoming season.
