The Fun of Fishing On the Gulf Coast

Published on Jan 26th, 2012 in with Comments Off

Growing up on the Gulf Coast of Florida leading to a love of salt water fishing. We have normally had numerous fishing piers within the northwest Florida area where I was raised so having a boat was by no means a prerequisite. The major types of fishing we do within the Florida panhandle are fishing off the nearby piers extending into the Gulf of Mexico and wading inside the nearby bays. When fishing off the local piers one will need to have fishing gear from medium to medium heavy. Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico we usually focus on the following migrational species: Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, and Cobia. Cobia will require separate instruction that goes beyond the scope of this write-up.
